Disney has announced a film adaptation of the cult cartoon Lilo and Stitch. The start of the distribution is scheduled for May 2025.
Disney has published the first teaser for the film adaptation of the beloved cartoon of the 2000s Lilo and Stitch. The video appeared on the official YouTube channel of the studio.
The main role of Lilo in the film will be played by young actress Maya Kealoha. According to the plot, a lonely Hawaiian girl who does not find a common language with her peers unexpectedly gets an unusual friend. Her life changes after a spaceship with an alien on board crashes.
The original animated film, released in 2002, became one of the most successful Disney projects of the early 2000s. The cartoon was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Animated Film. The film’s success spawned a major franchise that included three sequels: The New Adventures of Stitch (2003), Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch’s Big Trouble (2005), and Leroy & Stitch (2006), as well as an animated series that ran from 2003 to 2006.
The film adaptation of Lilo & Stitch will be released on May 23, 2025.
